DAVIDLEE  SLATE
Davidlee Slate was born in Cleveland, Ohio on July 18,1963. Country music has always been a big part of his life. His Grandfather, Sweet William Slate, who played guitar with Hank Williams Sr., gave Davidlee the gift of music and inspired him to pick up the guitar. He wrote his first song at age 13 and dreamed of moving to Nashville and hearing his songs on the radio. However, life seemed to take him everywhere except Nashville, including a 7 yr stay in Key West, Fl. He loved the Florida sun but in 2003 he decided to finally pursue a songwriting career in Nashville.

Once in Nashville, Davidlee immersed himself into the songwriting scene playing writers nights and open mics. When his favorite venue, "The Hall of Fame Lounge" closed for a short time, it left a void in the songwriting scene. Davidlee then started a writers night at the "It's All Good Cafe" which quickly grew into a major songwriters venue. This proved to be a great networking tool. As a writers night host, he developed relationships with great writers, artists and publishers. He also created an atmosphere where writers new to town were welcomed, treated with respect and introduced to the workings of the Nashville Songwriters scene. As the booking agent for the bar, he became known for booking talented bands and hit songwriters.

In April of 2005, Davidlee was one of seven who passed the Bluebird Cafe audition out of over 100 songwriters. He is currently playing rounds at the Bluebird Cafe. In May of 2005, he accepted the Management position at the legendary Hall of Fame Lounge (HOFL), nicknamed for its proximity to the Country Music Hall of Fame. Historically, stars would be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame and after, they would come next door and play at the HOFL. From Faron Young to Neil Young, they've all played or visited the HOFL and return from time to time. Davidlee is honored to be managing such a legendary room. It also helps to pay for his "music habit". Davidlee has founded the Nashville Songwriters Showcase, which is a booking agency for Nashville's best songwriters. He is currently booking the Showcase in many venues across the country.

Davidlee is the Key West, Florida coordinator for NSAI-Nashville Songwriters Association International. An organization which protects the rights of songwriters, offers workshops and provides support for songwriters.

Davidlee's musical influences include his Grandfather, Hank and Hank Jr., Waylon Jennings, David Alien Coe, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Willie Nelson, Neil Young and the Outlaws. Davidlee is currently playing with his first Nashville band "Davidlee Slate and the Revolvers." Immediately after releasing his latest CD "Long Hair Country Music" in April 2006, Davidlee was offered and signed a deal with Nashville Independent Record Label, Cubby Hole Records. The CD was recorded in Nashville with his band the Revolvers. All of the songs were co-written with some of Nashville's best songwriters. The music is up tempo, real country rock with "cool pedal steel and hot lead guitar, and it's just enough rock and roll to make you want to get up and move it!" ...."Keep Country Rockin'!!!!"
